The most influential experts HAVE MASTERED CLEAR & PERSUASIVE communicatION.
How do you measure up?

Hey there,

I’m Anita, a neuroscientist and communication strategist. I help ambitious professionals and visionary businesses craft captivating stories.

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that:

Great stories happen to those who can tell them.

After interviewing hundreds of celebrated thought leaders and world-renowned experts during my years as an editor and science writer, I discovered that success always follows those who communicate well. And the best opportunities come to those who’ve mastered storytelling.

Now, you’re probably thinking:

But I work so hard at my job, Anita! I literally don’t have the time to focus on communication or *gulp* storytelling.

I hear you and I’m here to help.

Let me tell you a little story…

Once upon a time, I held a human brain for the first time...

I’ll never forget the day I held a human brain for the first time.

The words I heard from my anatomy instructor were drastically different from the words I felt in my heart.

I heard motor cortex, but I felt: “What were her talents? Did she play the piano?”

I heard hippocampus, but I felt: “What was in his high school yearbook? Did he have any regrets?”

I heard amygdala, but I felt: “What was she afraid of? Did she try to overcome her fears?”

I heard facts. But I felt stories… buried right there inside the lump of flesh I held.

That day, I learned something that would change the course of my life, and I’m hoping it changes yours:

The brain isn’t just a warehouse of our deepest stories. It has the power to create them. To rewrite them. To tell them. To give them new endings and craft new beginnings.

It reminds us that the legacy we leave behind… is our story.

In less than a year, I was speaking at The Moth StorySlam in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, giving my own academic career a plot twist.

In the next 5 years, I co-founded a science education website, wrote content for the NIH communications team, worked in publishing, and developed editorial stories for global science and tech brands.

I officially rewrote my own story.

You have a hidden story waiting to be uncovered.

No matter what profession you’re in or where you are in your career, YOU get to decide how you communicate your success. There’s one common thread that connects the hundreds of stories I’ve developed in my editorial journey:

Every success story was once hidden until it was finally told.

Remember, you can either quietly work hard and hope that someone notices…

… or you can work hard and communicate your success to attract the opportunities you truly deserve.

Which path will you take?

Let’s uncover your success story so you can proudly share it with the world.

Anita Ramanathan, Word Cortex, Take 5

Now that we're friends,
I thought I'd tell you that...

Having lived in 5 cities across 3 countries, I can assure you that nothing connects us better than stories. (Followed closely by food.)

This one time, when my experiments failed, I spoke at a symposium for 45 minutes… without any data. People loved it.

Someday, I’d like to host a talk show. I’d invite Mindy Kaling as my first guest.

If I weren’t a communication strategist, I’d be a movie critic. I take story notes while watching movies.

Word Cortex was born at a conference in Washington D.C. when a celebrated scientist gave the presidential address, and literally no one paid attention. Something needed to change.
